Noarlunga beats Reynella with winning goal after siren in Southern Football League grand final

NOARLUNGA took the lead just once in Saturday’s Southern Football League grand final against Reynella but held it when it mattered most. In a fairytale finish, Waylon Johncock kicked a goal after the siren to complete a stunning comeback and propel the Shoes to their first premiership since 2001. Noarlunga trailed by as much as 38 points in the second term, before storming home to stun the Wineflies 10.7 (67) to 9.9 (63) at Hickinbotham Oval.

I am an Adelaide-based freelance journalist who previously worked at The Messenger for two years.

I have covered general news and a wide range of sports.

I also covered the Adelaide Bite's 2015/16 Australian Baseball League campaign, producing three to seven stories each week on top of my Messenger duties.

I have a strong interest in sports journalism, and also the rapidly changing digital landscape.

In addition to The Messenger and Advertiser I have had work published by a range of outlets, including Fox Sports, the Australian Open website, Australian Ice Hockey League website, Adelaide Bite website, and the Australian Baseball League website.

I started off as a regular contributor with the Messenger, producing between 8-12 articles across the 11 versions of the paper each week. In summer I covered Turf Cricket, while in winter I covered the Amateur and Southern football leagues.

In the past I have produced a weekly magazine for the Volleyball South Australia State League.

I also run a couple of online publications – ABL Stats and SANFL Stats – in my own time.
